Nordplus Junior Class exchange project
Circular Economy
The summary of the project
It will last for two years. Students in all three schools study ecology and are involved in local projects. Participating in this project they will have a practical opportunity at an international level to exchange and compare their experience gaining knowledge about a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended. In practice, it implies reducing waste to a minimum not only using the benefits nature provides but also sustainable resources management because sustainable development is the basis of our welfare. Also, they will know how rationally sustainable activities are dealt in the partners´countries and what influences that (traditions in the family, country's ecological policy, fines, education at school, society habits and changes towards the greener future), how 3 Rs (reusage, recycling and reduction) are dealt when visiting universities, science centres/companies, shopping centres, landfills, compost pitches, recycling enterprises, ecological farms, having outdoor seminars, making things from recycled materials at workshops, meeting specialists. Project activities will formulate the right skills in recycling and reusing which will be integrated into school subjects (natural and social sciences, technology, art, English). Students will do surveys, compare the results with partner schools and write reports. The results will be presented on school posters, webpages, in the media. This information will attract other students' attention and make them reconsider waste reduction. The gathered data and students' survey results may be used further on for the development of educational materials and cross-curricular subjects.
